Thoughts on Dolphins’ Unofficial Depth Chart

What stands out first is literally the first name on the chart. Caleb Douglas, a wide-eyed rookie the Dolphins selected in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, is listed as their WR1. He’s thrived thus far into training camp playing next to quarterback Malik Willis, and he could parlay a strong first training camp into a starting gig in Week 1.

Those who have been on the Douglas hype train since Day 1 (myself included) have been vindicated.

There’s also the fact that Miami has Trey Moore listed as its starting inside linebacker instead of two-time Super Bowl champ Willie Gay Jr. Gay is a veteran with more than 50 NFL starts under his belt, while Moore is an inexperienced rookie who has yet to even make his pro debut.

The Dolphins drafted Moore with a fourth-round pick, and he’s one of two linebackers they drafted in that round along with Kyle Louis.

Moving on to the Dolphins’ secondary, Zayne Anderson is slotted as their first-team safety despite the fact that he’s proven very little at the highest level. He’s ultimately started in just two NFL regular-season games since 2021 and has merely one career interception to his name.

Interestingly, they’re rolling with Anderson instead of rookie Michael Taafe, whom Miami picked in the fifth round at No. 158 overall after he put together a standout senior season at Texas. For perspective on why this is a puzzling move, Anderson has just 37 combined tackles in his NFL career, while Taafe racked up 70 tackles and two interceptions at the collegiate level in 2025 alone.
