Three offensive linemen the Jets should target in the 2023 NFL Draft

The New York Jets have had a productive offseason, but there is work left to be done.

The Jets and Packers are on the precipitous of an Aaron Rodgers trade. When the trade inevitably goes through, the Jets will turn their focus to a pressing need. New York needs to add multiple offensive line pieces to help protect their new quarterback.

Luckily for the Jets, the NFL Draft is just a week away, and there are many intriguing options.

These three checks all the boxes.

Broderick Jones

Jones would be an ideal target for the Jets. During his three seasons at the University of Georgia, Jones played 1,383 snaps and allowed just two sacks and three hits.

Jones is big, fast, and physical. The offensive lineman is 6-foot-5, 311 pounds and runs a 4.97 40-yard dash. That is freakish athleticism.

Jones played right tackle in his freshman season but left tackle in his last two seasons.

The Jets could use help on the left side, as Mekhi Becton has played just 739 snaps in his three NFL seasons.

Paris Johnson Jr.

Johnson Jr. lost to Jones’ Georgia team in the Peach Bowl. Similar to Jones, he would be a fantastic addition to the Jets o-line room.

The former Ohio State offensive tackle has been a monster protecting C.J. Stroud and Justin Fields for the last three seasons in Columbus.

The physical offensive lineman allowed just three sacks and one hit in his Ohio State career. PFF graded Johnson Jr. as the fifth-best OT among power five players in 2022.

The ex-Buckeye also has a ton of versatility. He played 827 snaps at left tackle in 2022, 768 snaps at right guard in 2021 and also saw snaps at left guard and right tackle during his college career.

Joe Tippmann

Tippmann will likely be available for the Jets to select in the second round. The Jets certainly need help at the tackle positions but also need a starting center.

He is a physical and nasty interior offensive line who could start for the Jets right away. Tippmann allowed just one sack, four hits, and four hurries in his three seasons at Wisconsin.

The center is 6-foot-6 inches, 313 pounds, and excels in space. PFF’s draft profile says the center “looks like a tight end on the move.”

Rodgers would probably love it if Tippmann was the one snapping the ball to him every Sunday.
