Three potential free-agent targets for Seahawks

Head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider have kept the momentum going for the Seattle Seahawks with a stellar offseason that has included the addition of free-agent safety Julian Love and a welcome-home party for linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Add to the mix a top-graded draft class, according to Mel Kiper Jr., and the Seahawks seem primed for another leap in 2023 following a surprising 9-8 record in 2022.

With the season still more than three months away, Carroll and Schneider may look to add a few more pieces to a team currently ranked 11th in ESPN's NFL Power Rankings. Here are remaining free agents to keep an eye on.

Frank Clark

The 29-year-old edge rusher remains unsigned after the Kansas City Chiefs released him in March. The former Seahawk finished last season with five sacks and 12 quarterback hits, a low since his rookie campaign (2015).

Still, the addition of Clark – along with newly signed linemen Dre'Mont Jones and Jarran Reed – would revamp a front seven that ranked among the league's worst in 2022.

Former NFL general manager Jeff Diamond even went as far as telling Sports Illustrated, "Clark could be the player who nudges the Seahawks past the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West."

Yannick Ngakoue

The edge rusher finished 2022 with 9.5 sacks for the Indianapolis Colts, which would have tied for the Seahawks team lead.

The journeyman remains unsigned, mostly due to his liability as a run-stopper, but possesses a unique ability to generate pressure and wallop opposing quarterbacks. It is a skill-set that makes him valuable to teams like the Seahawks that lack explosive depth upfront along the defensive line.

Justin Houston

The 34-year-old edge rusher showed no signs of slowing down in 2022, logging a team-leading 9.5 sacks for the Baltimore Ravens. His leadership and Hall of Fame-worthy resume would make for an interesting addition to the Seahawks' young defense.
