Passing yards and touchdowns drive most quarterback debates. Dig deeper, however, and several numbers suggest that these three NFL starting quarterbacks could be headed for much bigger seasons in 2026.
Each carries a different reputation. Their underlying production tells a similar story.
Love threw for 3,381 yards last season, leaving him outside the top 10. That total says more about the Green Bay Packers' approach than it does about their quarterback.
Love averaged only 29.2 passing attempts per game. Despite that limited workload, he finished third in the EPA and completion percentage over expected composite, a metric combining offensive efficiency with accuracy.
He also completed 66.3 percent of his passes while averaging 7.7 yards per attempt. His 23 touchdowns came with only six interceptions, producing the sixth best touchdown to interception ratio in football.
Pro Football Focus added another layer. Love earned an 88.7 passing grade, which ranked third among quarterbacks.
Green Bay spent much of 2025 treating Love like someone who needed protection. The numbers suggest the Packers should be building more of the offense around him.
Last season, Lawrence completed just 60.9 percent of his throws, an easy statistic for critics to grab. It also fails to explain how aggressively the Jacksonville Jaguars attacked defenses.
His average target traveled 8.7 yards downfield. He also finished with 4,007 passing yards and 29 touchdowns.
There was also a glimpse of what could be coming. During a four-game winning streak late in the season, Lawrence accounted for 13 touchdowns without committing a turnover.
That stretch was not built on safe throws and empty production. Lawrence pushed the ball, created explosive plays and finally operated with some consistency.
His accuracy remains a concern. Still, quarterbacks capable of generating positive EPA while carrying that degree of difficulty are not common. If Lawrence converts a few more routine opportunities, his entire statistical profile could change quickly.
Stroud did not produce eye popping totals in 2025. He finished with 3,041 passing yards and 19 touchdowns after missing three games.
His efficiency painted a more encouraging picture.
Stroud generated positive value throughout the season and finished with a 61.7 Total QBR, ranking 11th in the NFL. He also averaged 7.2 yards per attempt despite playing behind an offense that rarely offered him easy answers.
The strongest evidence arrived during the second half. From Week 8 forward, Stroud produced 0.238 EPA per play, the fifth best mark among quarterbacks during that span.
The Houston Texans still need him to avoid the ugly mistakes that have followed him into the postseason. Those performances cannot simply be tossed into a dumpster and forgotten.
However, his regular-season efficiency shows that the quarterback who impressed immediately as a rookie has not disappeared. Stroud was already trending back toward that level before the calendar changed.
Love, Lawrence and Stroud do not need statistical miracles in 2026. They need their teams to recognize what the deeper numbers are already saying.
