Three-time Pro Bowl TE Delanie Walker to work out with 49ers

Tight end Delanie Walker made Pro Bowl squads every season from 2015 through 2017 while with the Tennessee Titans but was limited by injuries the following two years and then sat out the entire 2020 campaign due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic and his continued recovery from previous setbacks.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo (h/t Kevin Patra), the free agent who turns 37 years old in August is scheduled to have a workout with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday.

Walker is no stranger to the West Coast or the 49ers organization, as he played for San Francisco from 2006 through 2012. He signed with the Titans in March 2013 and enjoyed the best seasons of his pro career with Tennessee. However, he went down to a broken ankle and ligament damage in his only game of the 2018 campaign and then played in seven games the following season.

The 49ers do have All-Pro George Kittle atop the depth chart at the position and, thus, don't need Walker to be at his absolute best to contribute in the offense that will feature either veteran Jimmy Garoppolo or rookie Trey Lance as its QB1.
