Titans finally get the L’Jarius Sneed news they desperately needed

L'Jarius Sneed's journey with the Tennessee Titans so far has been a rather arduous one. The veteran cornerback has struggled to stay on the field due to injuries, and his recovery from a largely lost first season in 2024 has been slow. Suffice it to say, it was heartening to see the veteran cornerback return to Titans practice on Wednesday.

Sneed was back with the Titans and said he "feels great" when asked about his current status with reporters. That's good news for a Titans secondary t hat is counting on his presence to maintain respectability.

The Titans paid handsomely for the chance to employ Sneed. They traded an early third-round choice in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Kansas City Chiefs for the rights to Sneed, who'd been given the franchise tag designation by the team after the 2023 campaign. Folllowing that, they locked him in with a lucrative contract extension spanning four years that was worth up to $76.4 million.

L'Jarius Sneed had good things to say (and show) the Titans on Wednesday.

Sneed's impact with the team was negligible in his first season, however, after suffering a quad injury that sent him to injured reserve after a handful of games played. E ven the early games lacked impact from Sneed, and the entire 2024 season left all parties involved frustrated with the results.

This year, the Titans are hoping Sneed can be a lockdown presence in a secondary with real promise with slot corner Roger McCreary inside and Jarvis Brownlee as an impressive find in the fifth round last year. Darrell Baker Jr. is a solid addition as well, but without Sneed, the demands are too great on the entire unit.

The good news for Titans fans (and those following him from Chiefs Kingdom) is that Sneed says he's been healthy for longer than some might expect to hear. When asked about his absence from practices before now, he said it was part of the team's plan.

"It wasn't my decision. It's Coach Callahan. He's taking it slow with me, and Mike [Borgonzi, general manager]. They're all taking it slow with me, making sure I'm good for the season," said Sneed.

Sneed admitted that he's working on his conditioning after having been away from the field for so long. However, he told reporters that he's "very confident" that he'll be ready to go when the Titans take the field against the Denver Broncos in Week 1.
