The Tennessee Titans quickly moved on from 2023 second-round pick Will Levis. New general manager Mike Borgonzi selected Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, which means the writing is on the wall for Levis.
He started 21 games for the franchise over the last two seasons, but won only five games during that span. Levis also threw 16 interceptions and fumbled 17 times compared to only 21 touchdowns.
While head coach Brian Callahan is playing coy about who the team's starter will be under center, there is no doubt that Ward will be the Titans' quarterback when they travel to face the Denver Broncos in Week 1.
Many have theorized that Levis is an obvious trade candidate for the Titans because he is still young and incredibly talented if he can put it all together. This has reportedly made tensions high around the organization, but Levis spoke candidly about Ward on Wednesday for the first time since he was drafted.
"Yeah, he's been great," Levis said. "I'm here for him wherever I can be, and you know, he's a really smart kid. ... Heck of an athlete and quarterback too, so it's been fun going out there playing with him."
This maturity level from the third-year quarterback should be exciting for Titans fans, as it appears that Levis is open to helping out the future franchise player. Levis will still almost certainly leave after next season if he is not dealt or cut before then, however.
As for now, it seems like Levis is settling in to be the team's backup quarterback. It may not be what the young player wants at this stage in his career, but he is handling things like a true pro.
