Titans RB Tony Pollard Could Again Become Trade Candidate
USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

Leading up to last year’s trade deadline, Tony Pollard was among the members of the Titans who drew interest. The veteran running back is once again seen as a candidate for an in-season move.

Pollard is a potential trade candidate for 2026, ESPN’s Dan Graziano writes. That will of course especially be the case if Tennessee is out of contention prior to November 10. The Titans are currently 0-3, and a rebound setting up a push for the playoffs is not anticipated.

A 1,000-yard rusher during each of his final two Cowboys campaigns, Pollard landed a three-year free agent pact with Tennessee in 2024. As a veteran on an expiring contract, the 29-year-old makes sense as a target for contending teams. If the Titans do not plan on retaining Pollard beyond the remainder of the 2026 season, it would come as little surprise if a trade were to be worked out relatively soon.

Pollard is attached to a base salary of $6.74MM this season. An acquiring team would only be responsible for paying the remainder of that figure in the event a deal were to be struck. Given the low cost of a deal in this case, several suitors could emerge around the league. Playoff-bound teams – in particular those dealing with injuries or facing questions in the backfield down the stretch – would represent the most logical Pollard landing spots.

The 2022 Pro Bowler has remained consistent across his time in Nashville. Pollard rushed for 1,079 yards in 2024, posting a nearly identical figure the following year while scoring the same number of touchdowns (five) both seasons. So far, he has amassed 195 scrimmage yards in three games while averaging 4.6 yards per attempt. That falls in line with his career average in terms of rushing efficiency.

Tennessee has Tyjae Spears in the backfield, although the former third-rounder’s rookie contract will expire after the season. Julius Chestnut and Michael Carter are also pending free agents, whereas fifth-round rookie Nicholas Singleton is likely to remain in the fold beyond 2026. Whether or not Pollard will close out his deal with the Titans or join a new team for the second time in his career will be interesting to see.
