The Tennessee Titans have invested tons of draft capital into the offensive line recently by selecting both Northwestern guard Peter Skoronski and Alabama tackle JC Latham in the first round of the last two NFL Drafts. That made the Titans' choice to give free agent offensive tackle Dan Moore a four-year, $82 million deal that much more confusing.
However, head coach Brian Callahan and general manager Mike Borgonzi have a plan. According to NFL Reporter Albert Breer, the Titans plan on starting the newly-acquired Moore at left tackle this season and moving Latham back to right tackle, where he played in college for the Crimson Tide.
Latham played and started in all 17 games last season for the Titans and played 100% of the team's offensive snaps at left tackle. While he did endure growing pains as a rookie, as evidenced by his seven sacks allowed and 10 penalties committed, he improved throughout the year and played the sixth most snaps in the league.
Moore was a fourth-round pick by the Steelers in 2021 but quickly rose to prominence in the organization, starting 66 out of 68 games for the team during his four-year stint. He is a left tackle by training and has a bit more experience than Latham, so the move makes sense for Tennessee.
In 2024, Moore did allow the most sacks in the league, according to PFF, but he was rarely penalized and played almost every single snap for Pittsburgh last season. Callahan and his staff may have to make adjustments if things are not going well, but as it stands now, the Titans have a clear vision for the offensive line.
