Titans Sign Three Players in Free Agency Frenzy

The Tennessee Titans were among the league's most active franchises when free agency officially kicked off in March. Throughout the month, especially on the frontend, Robert Saleh's takeover saw a load of money spent and more than a fair share of talent added on either side of the ball; Wan'Dale Robinson and John Franklin-Myers highlighted offense and defense, respectively.

Although, thereafter, things slowed down for Tennessee. In spite of their league-leading cap space, the front office apparently opted to take a break in favor of draft-related discussions. Of course, the focus of the speculation from those outside the loop followed suit. Before long, it was all about the "new" in Nashville.

Until now. In a sudden mid-week surge, Saleh and the Titans made a handful of moves to bolster the roster's depth ahead of the former's first season on the job. Wide receiver K.J. Osborn came first, followed by a trio of similarly seasoned offensive pieces.

Michael Carter

Formerly an Arizona Cardinal (and before that, a New York Jet with Saleh), Carter should be in-line to compete with Tyjae Spears and Kalel Mullings for touches in the Titans backfield.

While the ground-gamer hasn't scored more than one touchdown in a season since 2022, he's a veteran presence that comes cheap and with a chance for relative bench impact. It's a peaceable pickup for a rebuilding squad, if nothing else.

Hendon Hooker

A clear-cut backup quarterback, Hooker may be the most intriguing grab of the three at hand. Not only did he attend college in Tennessee, making this a homecoming of sorts, but he's the second signal caller the Titans have added this offseason, following Mitch Trubisky.

Hooker served admirably as a second-hand-man for the Detroit Lions, and could ultimately spell the end for Will Levis at the same position on Tennessee's bench.

Lance McCutcheon

McCutcheon (27) follows the aforementioned Osborn as another safety addition for Cam Ward's arsenal of receivers. Having spent the majority of his career as a journeyman without the opportunity to make a real on-field splash, the pass-catcher could get his chance on a shaky WR scene in Nashville.

He, just like the other two signees before him, are likely to occupy fringe positions as the Titans roster turns over under a different head coach. Each will have the opportunity to earn a position on the roster and, in time, as a potentially usable piece in the offense as well.
