Titans vying with Cowboys in chase for deep threat fresh off suspension

Martavis Bryant hasn't played an NFL snap since Week 10 of the 2018 season. Yet, that hasn't stopped the newly reinstated wideout from garnering strong interest on the market.

The first team to get an up-close look at Bryant will be the Dallas Cowboys, who will host Bryant for a workout on Tuesday, per The Athletic's Dianna Russini. Should a deal fail to materialize between the two parties, Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz reports that Bryant plans to work out for the Tennessee Titans

Bryant, who will turn 32 in December, was suspended multiple times throughout his first stint in the NFL. He missed the entire 2016 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. In 2018, he was suspended indefinitely after violating the conditions of his reinstatement. On Saturday, Bryant's agent, James Peterson, revealed that commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated his client, paving the way for a comeback bid.

At his peak, Bryant was one of the league's most vaunted deep threats, averaging 18.2 yards per reception during his first two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In total, Bryant has appeared in 44 NFL games, hauling in 145 receptions for 2,183 yards and 17 touchdowns. He's since had stints in the CFL, Fan Controlled Football League and the XFL.

At his age and being so far removed from NFL action, it's unlikely Bryant will become a plus-starter for a team. However, for a Titans squad that ranks 26th in passing offense (187.5), Bryant could help add some juice opposite of wideout DeAndre Hopkins.

Beyond Hopkins, no Titans wide receiver has eclipsed 18receptions or 224 yards receiving this season. Of the Titans pass catchers with a minimum of 10 receptions, Hopkins is the lone player averaging more than 9.2 YPR.
