It is a motivational speech that riled up many users on X. One user even claimed the video could inspire him to get on the field to block former Browns pass rusher Myles Garrett.
There are no high expectations for the Browns. Notably, many believe they will struggle. But in a wide-open AFC North, anything can happen. Monken has prepared the Browns for the season while guiding quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders. The Cleveland quarterbacks have been working together throughout camp, and both look to be the answer behind center.
Although Monken is a first-time head coach, he previously worked for the team in 2019 as an offensive coordinator. His experience with the organization makes him ideal and well-suited for the role. Monken also was the offensive coordinator of the Georgia Bulldogs, who won back-to-back championships in 2021 and 2022. For the past three seasons, he was the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.
Monken is an aggressive coach who fosters a vertical passing attack. Additionally, he is good at adapting his scheme to the players he has rather than forcing players to learn one system. Monken also develops quarterbacks, as he did with Lamar Jackson, and likes to create favorable matchups with formations and play design. Time will tell if his coaching style turns the Browns into winners.
