Tom Brady confirmed for Fox appearances outside of calling games

Tom Brady won't just be calling games for Fox as the network's No. 1 analyst during the upcoming NFL season as part of the 10-year deal reportedly worth $375M he signed following the 2021 campaign.

Per Brendon Kleen of Awful Announcing, well-known FS1 personality Colin Cowherd confirmed during the latest edition of his "The Colin Cowherd Podcast" that Brady will be a recurring guest on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" program during the upcoming season. Brady has made multiple appearances on Cowherd's FS1 show since inking his deal with Fox.

"I wanted him to talk about process," Cowherd said about Brady's "The Herd" appearance from earlier this week. "…As the season comes along, it will be more about the season, the moment. Today, all I thought was, I want to introduce Tom, how he thinks, to the audience. This is a process day. And he just tends to be the best process athlete we’ve ever had."

Brady suggested while speaking with Cowherd on Wednesday that he's at least slightly nervous he could "let the people at Fox here down" and "let the great NFL fans down" while serving as the replacement for award-winning broadcaster Greg Olsen.

Olsen became arguably the league's most popular in-game analyst sitting in the chair that will be occupied by Brady beginning in September and is being relegated to Fox's No. 2 crew to make way for the seven-time Super Bowl champion.

Somewhat interestingly, Cowherd revealed how there was "management all over the studio" ahead of his latest sitdown chat with Brady. The implication is that certain Fox executives want Brady to impress in appearances as he previews what he will and won't be working alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt.

"Brady’s important for the company," Cowherd acknowledged during his podcast. "It’s a big move. He’s Tom Brady, it’s Fox, it’s the NFL. Greg Olsen is terrific, so you want to make sure he’s good, though I think they’ll both be great. But there’s just a lot of things going on here, so it was kind of a strangely tense day."

Future conversations between Brady and Cowherd could make for fascinating programming depending on how much the two are permitted to speak about the quarterback's debut season in the booth.

Like any rookie athlete, Brady likely will experience ups and downs as a first-year announcer. Time will tell how open Cowherd speaks to Brady about TB12's on-air performances between Week 1 and Fox's coverage of Super Bowl LIX.
