Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady sat down with Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes in a one-on-one interview ahead of Super Bowl LIX.
Brady was naturally able to relate to Mahomes on a number of topics, having won seven Super Bowls throughout his amazing 23-year career. Among those were how fans begin to change their tune about them with the more success they have.
"I had that experience where we were like, every year, I was like, man, why are they all hating on us all the time?" Brady said to Mahomes. "Like, I'm just trying to do my job, and if we win, great."
Mahomes responded by saying he's been on both sides of the equation.
"I have so much more appreciation for what you all did now, because I was someone that was like, man, how do they win every single year?" Mahomes told Brady. But I think for me, it's brought us closer together as a team. Even if you're rooting against us, you have to respect us because of the way that we play. We're going to get it done no matter what the situation is. And we've been in so many of these different situations, I think that is our edge. We don't panic whenever stuff doesn't go our way. We just know that we can make it right the next play in some of these big games, because we don't have to play guys like you anymore."
Brady went on to tell Mahomes that he would be very happy for him to accomplish the NFL's first ever Super Bowl three-peat.
"People say all the time, well, what if Patrick wins his fourth?" Brady said. "And I'm like, there's nobody that would be happier than me, because I appreciate how hard it is to do. And to win four times before the age of 30, unless you've done it, you're like, damn, this is really almost impossible to do. Has been impossible, let's say three championships [in a row]."
Brady then posed a question to Mahomes regarding what his reaction would be to beating the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
"Imagine yourself Sunday night, you've won your fourth Super Bowl before the age of 30. Three-peat, first time in history. If there could be one word that could describe that feeling, if you get that job accomplished, what would it be?"
"Greatness," Mahomes replied.
