Tom Brady sees serious change in broadcasting duties

Being one of the lead color commentators for Fox and a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, Tom Brady saw a number of challenges in his first year doing double duty.

In order to prevent the Raiders from gaining a competitive advantage due to Brady, several restrictions were placed on the future Hall of Famer. Brady could not attend practices, visit team facilities or attend broadcast production meetings as a result of the restrictions. It could have been seen as overkill, but it would have been a damning look for both Brady and the Raiders if the team obtained sensitive information about an opponent.

However, heading into his second year, Brady is seeing some changes to what he can do.

Some of Brady’s restrictions are being lifted as of this season.

According to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, Brady will be allowed to attend Fox’s weekly production meetings leading to games he would call for the network.

However, the other restrictions currently on Bradynwill remain in place, meaning he still cannot attend team practices.

Retiring in 2022, Brady signed a record 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox that year to become their top color commentator when his playing career ended.

2024 was Brady’s first year in the broadcast booth, working alongside play-by-play commentator Kevin Burkhardt and sideline reporters Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi. He was also officially named as minority owner of the Raiders in October of that year, prompting the restrictions on what he could do as a broadcaster. Brady followed along with the rules, per NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, and he was able to eventually call Super Bowl 59 between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.

It will be intriguing to see how Brady’s performance in the booth improved now that he has a bit more freedom in his role.
