Tom Brady takes a jab at Dak Prescott during announcement of Cowboys' Week 1 game
Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys' 2024 schedule will be revealed in full on Wednesday when the league announces every single date but FOX provided some early intel on America's Team's Week 1 showdown.

They'll be visiting the Cleveland Browns. But quite honestly, the fact the Browns were the rival wasn't the biggest part of the news as most people's reactions had to do more with who will be the analyst working the booth during FOX's broadcast: Tom Brady.

That's right, the NFL's version of The Lord of the Rings will have a headset on and will be breaking down the team that consistently brings in the eyeballs for the national network.

And hey, Brady already looks like a broadcasting veteran as he quickly created some drama with a playful jab to Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott during the announcement. But first he was all class.

"Obviously having the Cowboys on is a huge draw," Brady said as his initial reaction to the news. "As America’s Team, that’s gonna get a little hard for me to say that all the time, understanding that they were the competition for a long time. But in this new role, I know how important the Cowboys are to this network."

“They got great storylines," Brady sneakily added. "Dak Prescott, let’s see if he can finally come through. Did that just slip out?”

In the past, Brady has praised Prescott as a quarterback. Chances are, he's already embracing his role as a broadcaster and laying out the storyline of the team, which - in total fairness - does largely revolve around Prescott having a stronger showing in do-or-die games in January.

Oddly enough, Prescott's very best playoff game to date happened with Brady on the other side of the coin, when the Cowboys steamrolled the Bucs 31-13 as Dak scored five total touchdowns in that night. It was the legendary quarterback's last game of his career.

As someone who grew up fascinated by the people calling the games on the booth, I gotta admit I'm excited to watch the seven-time Super Bowl champion work a Cowboys game on such a big stage next September.

We'll see if Prescott shows him what's what as he'll be facing one of the scariest, meanest defenses in the National Football League. We really have got to wait four more months, huh?
