After another unsightly performance from the Las Vegas Raiders—a 31-0 drubbing by the Philadelphia Eagles—talking about pro football in Las Vegas has become increasingly difficult. Just ask the franchise’s part-owner, Tom Brady.
Brady appeared on the “Let’s Go!” podcast, which he created a few years ago but rarely visits now due to his broadcasting duties with FOX Sports. Following the Raiders’ latest loss, his appearance seemed like an ideal moment to address the team’s direction under his oversight.
Instead, host Jim Gray—a longtime Brady confidant—did not ask a single question about the Raiders. NBC Sports noted the team was not mentioned once until Maxx Crosby joined the next segment.
That omission lands awkwardly as the Raiders enter a consequential offseason in which Brady is expected to make the organization’s key decisions. Reasonable questions linger about his involvement in those decisions, the power structure with general manager John Spytek, and even the team’s approach to the upcoming NFL Draft.
Brady avoided all of it. He did not acknowledge his role in the Raiders’ disastrous season, leaving Crosby to address the situation instead. What that says about Brady’s commitment is unclear, but it does raise concerns about accountability. Brady seemed confident he could simultaneously broadcast games and reshape a franchise. Now, he may be having second thoughts.
Any clarity on his responsibilities would be welcome. Instead, Brady used his appearance to talk about Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, providing nothing about the team he partly owns. What once appeared to be a bold, forward-thinking partnership—Brady taking the reins in Las Vegas—now looks increasingly questionable, and his silence only deepens the uncertainty.
Whether Brady can help turn the Raiders into winners again remains to be seen. For now, he appears content to ignore the calamitous season unfolding under his watch. Crosby cannot do that. And neither should the man ostensibly leading the way, Tom Brady.
