Tony Romo was disqualified from his recent golf tournament

Tony Romo’s golf career is not going much better than his broadcasting career is.

Romo was disqualified from a Korn Ferry pre-qualifier tournament at the Club at Forest Ridge in Broken Arrow, Okla. under bizarre circumstances. Romo’s threesome played at a very slow pace, and were in a bit of a rush to get to the clubhouse at the end of the round.

PGA Tour rules official Rob Keller told Michael Bamberger of Golf.com that in the rush, Romo signed his scorecard with an error on it in which he accidentally wrote in a lower score than what he actually received. Under the rules of golf, that is an automatic disqualification.

Even if Romo’s scorecard had been correct, he would not have made it through the qualifier. His third round score would have been a 74, and he would have missed qualification by three shots.

A golf DQ is far from Romo’s biggest problem right now, as he recently lost his broadcasting gig at CBS. It remains to be seen what he will do next, though it’s safe to assume he will continue to be a regular at low-end golf tournaments.
