To watch the career resurgence of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield over the past two seasons in the NFC South has been nothing short of superb.
Once on the scrap heap, now Mayfield is the figurehead of one of the top teams in the NFC, who should be aiming for the Super Bowl in 2025, according to some experts.
With Mayfield coming off his best season as a pro with 4,500 passing yards and 41 touchdowns, it is no wonder many think the Buccaneers' offense is going to be a serious problem for defenses.
In Jeremy Fowler's top 10 quarterback rankings piece — created with input from scouts, executives and coaches — Mayfield comes in at No. 10, with quite a comparison as well.
"He honestly reminds me of Favre a little bit as far as style of play," the personnel man said via ESPN. "He's got a moxie to him, like, '[Expletive] you, I'm on the attack.' And defensive guys feel that presence."
There's no denying that Baker has a little fire to him, and in Tampa Bay, that has been embraced by Todd Bowles and the team. They feed off it.
Willing to do whatever it takes to win, Mayfield and his fiery on-field demeanor have helped propel this team from also-rans to genuine contenders in the space of two seasons.
Is Baker Favre-like? We can see the similarities with the gunslinging mentality, along with the brash confidence on the field. So far, Mayfield and the Buccaneers seem to be a match made in heaven, and now he'll enter the 2025 season as a top 10 quarterback in football.
And make no mistake, in Tampa Bay, the expectations haven't been higher in quite some time.
