Travis Kelce Addresses Chiefs Incident After Backlash

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has cleared the air on the incident from Monday Night Football.

Kelce and the Chiefs had a strong start to their NFL season with a Week 1 victory over the Denver Broncos, 31-10, at Arrowhead Stadium.

The 11-time Pro Bowl tight end didn’t dodge the issue that sparked some social media backlash after the game. At one point in the contest, Kelce grabbed Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga by the collar as the referee stood nearby, but no flag came.

Kelce’s contentious block helped Patrick Mahomes score the first touchdown of the game with a 15-yard run into the end zone.

During the latest episode of Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, the Chiefs star addressed the no-call.

“It’s definitely a questionable play,” Kelce admitted. “That’s one of those where you get up slowly like, ‘Please don’t be any laundry on the field.’ I had a man up by his neck. Can’t do it. Almost cost us.

“And to be honest, that would have been Pat Mahomes’ second rushing touchdown called back in two plays.”
