Travis Kelce Getting Praised For What He Did to Chiefs Teammate in Chargers Game

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs did not begin the 2025 NFL season how they would have hoped, losing Friday's opener to Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers 27-21 in Brazil.

Kelce played his part despite the season-opening loss, tallying two catches for 47 yards and one touchdown. However, the Chiefs offensive line struggled to protect Patrick Mahomes, allowing two sacks and eight QB hits, not to mention their seven penalties.

Right tackle Jawaan Taylor was a big part of the offensive line's struggles. The former Florida Gators star allowed pressure on Mahomes while picking up four of Kansas City's 10 total penalties.

After one of Taylor’s false starts, Kelce showed his frustration and leadership by walking over to the big man, saying a few words, and headbutting him, likely to fire Taylor up. Taylor didn't pick up a penalty after his encounter with Kelce.

NFL fans appreciated seeing Kelce give his teammate some tough love, taking to social media to share their reactions.

"Love to see it. Jawaan Taylor is an absolute liability," one fan claimed.

"It’s about time. That dude’s been killing our offense going on 3 seasons now. Should have been gone a long time ago," added another.

"That’s what a leader in football does, notice he didn’t get anymore flags after that," said a third.

"after that there are no more penalties from him, so its good," wrote a fourth.

"Glad someone is. Seems the Offensive Coordinator and O-line coach don't hold him accountable. I'm so glad Veach decided to give him so much money!" posted a fifth.

"I love this a whole lot," said a sixth.

Kelce and the Chiefs have now lost two of their last three Week 1 games, falling to the Detroit Lions during the 2023 season. They also picked up their first defeat against the Chargers since 2021.

Up next for Kansas City, a battle with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2.
