Brock Bowers and the Las Vegas Raiders are in desperate need of a win on Sunday as they face off against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Raiders entered this contest with a 2-9 record and in the midst of a deflating five-game losing streak. This includes their disappointing 24-10 loss to Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns last week.
Bowers has been one of the few bright spots for the Raiders amid another forgettable season. On Sunday, the second-year tight end was able to make history, which involved Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce. The Raiders made the announcement in the first half of the Chargers game.
Bowers is having another big year in Vegas this season. Entering Sunday’s contest, the All-Pro TE had already registered 45 catches for 510 yards and three touchdowns. Bowers, who is currently in the second season of his four-year, $18 million rookie deal with the Raiders, is looking to make it to the Pro Bowl games for the second straight year.
On Sunday, Bowers rewrote the history books with his first reception of the game. The 22-year-old caught a 27-yard pass from quarterback Geno Smith, which turned out to be a historic milestone for Bowers.
The Raiders took to social media to announce Bowers’ latest feat.
“With that 27-yard reception, TE Brock Bowers ( @brockbowers17 ) now has 22 career receptions of 20+ yards, passing Travis Kelce (21) and Kyle Pitts Sr. (21) for the fourth most receptions of 20+ yards by a TE in their first 26 career games in the NFL since 2000,” Raiders PR posted on X.

Kelce and the Chiefs were not in action on Sunday, but the legendary TE somehow found his name included in Vegas’ Bowers announcement. It wasn’t the best news for the Kansas City star, however, with Kelce now losing his place in the history books because of Bowers.
Bowers, who has now set a new record for most 20+ yards career receptions in his first 26 games, has made his mark in history again. The fact that he’s mentioned in the same breath as a future Hall of Famer like Kelce speaks volumes about how Bowers is already creating his own legacy at this point in his career.
The Raiders will need Bowers to be at his best if they want to secure an upset on Sunday, though. As of writing, Vegas is down to the Chargers, 7-0, with two minutes left in the first half.
