Travis Kelce predicts the 2022 MVP winner

Travis Kelce will get to see two 2022 NFL MVP finalists up close Sunday night. The Kansas City Chiefs will play in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles. Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts are both MVP candidates trying to win a bigger prize on Sunday. Kelce offered his opinion as to who would win the prize.

According to Adam Teicher with ESPN, Travis Kelce said Mahomes would take home that prize Thursday night:

“He’s always playing a step ahead,” Kelce said. “He’s always playing chess out there in terms of he’s got three or four moves already in his pocket depending on what the defense does. I love playing with him. He’s nonstop, always trying to find ways to make himself better.

You saw that more so this year than in any other year we’ve played knowing that the pieces were a little different in terms of the weapons he has. The scrutiny, everybody was kind of looking to see how he was going to take his game to the next level and sure enough, I’m pretty sure he’ll win MVP.”

Mahomes odds to win

Mahomes has won that award before. He was awarded the MVP for his incredible 2018 season. Mahomes is also heavily favored to win the prize Thursday night. According to Sports Betting Dime, Mahomes has -750 odds of winning MVP. Hurts has the fourth-best odds to win at +1500.

Mahomes has been given credit  by analysts for how he led the team season after wide receiver Tyreek Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins in the offseason. Mahomes answered the challenge by throwing for a regular season career high of 5,250 passing yards.

Mahomes tossed 41 touchdown passes, the most in the league, during the regular season. (Travis Kelce caught 12 of those 41 touchdown passes.) Mahomes has been nothing short of phenomenal in the playoffs as well, playing through a high-ankle sprain injury.
