Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs endured a brutal 2025 campaign, finishing with a 6-11 record. Their playoff hopes ended in Week 15 with a 16-13 loss to the AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers. The tight end still put up solid numbers, posting 76 catches for 851 yards and scoring five touchdowns in 17 games.
Following the underwhelming season overall, retirement whispers grew louder for the 36-year-old. He did promise to make a decision by early March before his contract expires.
The Chiefs have been making moves to try to correct what went wrong in 2025, hiring Eric Bieniemy to replace Matt Nagy as offensive coordinator. Kelce applauded the addition, calling him "one of my favorite coaches of all time" on his New Heights podcast. The reunion led to endless speculation about his longer future with the Chiefs. But his latest move signals he's thinking beyond the gridiron.
On Wednesday, Reuters reported that Kelce has invested in Sleep Number Corporation. He'll acquire common stock and receive restricted stock units, becoming one of their top shareholders with under 5% ownership. He reportedly signed a three-year deal that includes national TV commercials and digital campaigns.
"I'm intentional about where I invest and the brands I align with," Kelce said in a statement. "I've slept on a Sleep Number bed for years, and it's been a constant through different seasons of my career and life.”
He added, “The ability to adjust the bed as my recovery needs change is something I've personally relied on, and it's why becoming an investor felt like a natural next step. This partnership reflects my confidence in where the company is headed and the growing opportunity around sleep."
Sleep Number President Linda Findley praised Kelce's business awareness and passion for sleep wellness. She believes the Chiefs star’s profile will help attract younger consumers to the brand. While the investment shows he’s serious about business, his 2026 playing status remains uncertain.
In the meantime, it appears that Kelce will sleep well while pondering his NFL future.
