Travis Kelce shares hilarious failed interaction with Taylor Swift
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Travis Kelce has set his sights beyond football, what with his appearance on Saturday Night Live, his podcast and the products he’s endorsing.

Maybe he can evolve beyond a career as the best tight end in football once he retires from the game. But he needs to work on his own game when it comes to meeting beautiful, talented pop stars.

Travis Kelce told his big brother, Jason, all about how he struck out when it came to meeting Taylor Swift. She’s nearing the finish of the domestic section of her smash The Eras stadium tour. Her domestic tour started back in March. She’ll close that in early-August with six straight nights at SoFi Stadium, the home of both the Rams and Chargers. Then it’s off to Mexico, countries in South America and Europe, Japan and Singapore.

So see, if you’re Taylor Swift, there’s not much time to meet anyone, even if it’s Travis Kelce and you’re performing in his home (Arrowhead Stadium). Swift’s people told Kelce’s folks no way.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Travis Kelce said on his New Heights podcast. “So I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

“She doesn’t meet anybody — or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personal, but it was an unbelievable show.”

Big brother Jason Kelce told Travis that Taylor Swift prefers Eagles

How did big brother Jason Kelce react? He laughed. But then again, Jason is married with three young daughters. He’s not trying to date pop stars. And Travis Kelce did have a plan for Swift and it involved the friendship bracelet he wanted to give her. The bracelet featured his phone number. Admit it, that’s kind of a cool plan and far better than to push through a door and say “do you know who I am?”

But then again, Swift likes to write songs about the guys she dates. Jason Kelce had another theory. Tay-Tay is a vocal Eagles fan, he said. And maybe she’s not over the Chiefs beating her favorite team in the Super Bowl.

Still, Travis Kelce said he was impressed with the audience Swift drew in KC.

“I’ve only seen Arrowhead filled like that for Chiefs games with that much excitement,” Kelce said. “And everybody was dressed in pink and purple going crazy for her. It was wild. It was a wild show.”

Alas, there’s not much time for a personal life. The Chiefs started training camp this week in St. Joseph’s Missouri. Maybe Kelce can try again this time next year when she’s in Amsterdam or Zurich.
