Trevon Diggs fires back at Dallas Cowboys' controversial decision as tension grows between All-Pro and franchise

The Dallas Cowboys' relationship with All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs is getting increasingly tense ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

Earlier this week, reports emerged on the Cowboys enforcing a $500,000 salary de-escalator on Diggs' contract even though they had the right not do it. The de-escalator was part of a clause that required Diggs to be a part of 84% of the offseason program. The decision to enforce it comes months after owner Jerry Jones publicly criticized the cornerback's rehab process in 2024.

After the news broke, Diggs took to social media to send a simple message. Though there's no way of confirming it's related to the Cowboys' decision to cut down his salary, it is Diggs' first post in over a month (excluding reposts).

"Ima win," Diggs posted on X

The timing of the post hints at the message being related to the team's decision. But most important is Diggs' activity on Instagram, where he teased an additional episode to his YouTube documentary covering his rehab from the 2024 offseason.

The title for the unreleased video is "The TRUTH behind my injury."

Diggs spent most of the offseason rehabbing on his own in Miami, away from team facilities. The cornerback's decision and the team's decision to enforce the salary de-escalator have both been controversial. On one hand, some argue players should rehab with the team.

On the other, the Cowboys' training staff and training room ranked among the league's worst earlier this year when the NFLPA published its player report cards.

It's a gray area and it's tough to know for certain who's in the wrong here. But what is clear is tension is growing between the two parties. And considering the Cowboys could save over $12 million in salary cap space if they moved on from him in 2026, it's looking like this will be Diggs' last year wearing The Star on his helmet.
