Trevor Lawrence Sends Blunt Message To Teammates Before 2025 Season

Trevor Lawrence may realize that pressure is mounting to turn the Jacksonville Jaguars into contenders.

The quarterback entered the NFL as a highly touted No. 1 overall pick, and he's already landed a massive five-year, $275 million extension. Yet the Jaguars have made just one playoff appearance in his four seasons, and Lawrence witnessed more organizational upheaval when the team fired head coach Doug Pederson and general manager Trent Baalke after a 4-13 campaign.

During an interview on the "Pardon My Take" podcast released Monday, Lawrence acknowledged that he and the Jaguars are entering an important season.

"Where I'm at in my career, Year 5, it's time to go and start winning consistently and be not just that team where it's like, no one really takes you seriously," Lawrence said. "You want to be that team that's always competing for the playoffs, Super Bowls, and you're in the hunt."

Liam Coen represents the fourth head coach of Lawrence's career. The 25-year-old quarterback said he's had an "up and down" NFL tenure, during which he's posted an 85.0 quarterback rating with 69 passing touchdowns and 46 interceptions.

Lawrence accrued 11 touchdowns in 10 games (eight Jaguars losses) last season, but the former Clemson star thinks he's positioned to play his best football under a new regime.

"I feel like this is getting into my prime," Lawrence said. "I've got a lot of good years ahead of me, and I need to turn it on. And I think what we've built around me, what they've done this offseason has been a great start."

The Jaguars revamped their offensive line in free agency and drafted two-way phenom Travis Hunter with the No. 2 pick. Lawrence applauded their additions and said he has "a lot of confidence" in Coen's "tried and true" offensive system.

"I really feel good about the situation we're in," he said. "I love Coach Coen and the whole staff, and all the guys that were brought in in free agency. Just good dudes. Good players, too."
