Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss has fought tooth and nail to secure a rare sixth year of college football eligibility, abstaining from entering the 2026 NFL Draft in the process. But as that draft plays out, fans believe he might be the biggest loser of the entire draft this year.
Prior to Chambliss announcing that he would be staying at Ole Miss for another year, scouts everywhere were projecting him to be one of the top quarterbacks in the draft. With good reason too.
In 15 games he completed 66-percent of his passes for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns with just three interceptions and added another 527 yards and eight TDs on the ground. He finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting and nearly led the Rebels to a national title game.
But whether he felt he needed another year, had unfinished business or wanted to boost his stock higher, he's taken a colossal risk on himself by returning to college for another season. Now, with QBs such as Ty Simpson, Drew Allar and Carson Beck all going in the first few rounds, fans have concluded that he would have easily been a high draft pick and is the biggest loser for risking his stock when it might not rise any higher.
"Let’s say that Trinidad Chambliss didn’t fight so hard to get that extra year — he could have gone in the second or third round of this year’s draft (I said could)," one user remarked.
"Biggest loser of 2026 NFL Draft is Trinidad Chambliss man," wrote another.
"Trinidad Chambliss is the loser of the draft," a third wrote.
Chambliss might have been a top-10 pick in this year's draft. Instead, there's a very good chance that even if he has another superstar season in 2026, he'll get somewhat lost in the shuffle amid other prospects like Dante Moore and Arch Manning and his draft stock will plummet.
Simply put, if he isn't a first-round pick in 2027, Chambliss might regret going back to Ole Miss for a very long time.
