Tua Must Pass the Ball Effectively to Win

Having followed the Miami Dolphins for many years, and most recently Coach Mike McDaniel for the past four years, I expect that the Dolphins will continue to run the ball against the New York Jets.

I agree with that strategy, as it has worked in the past several games, with the last three resulting in wins.

As a fan, I know that predictable strategy, and the Jets’ defensive coaches will understand that all too well.

The Jets coaches also know the struggles that Tua Tagovailoa has had this year passing the ball.

Tua has been inaccurate, sloppy, careless with the football, immobile in the pocket, and exhibits very poor decision-making.

So, how would I force the Dolphins’ hands on offense if I were the Jets?

Simple, stack the box and force Tua to win the game, or at the minimum, make plays by throwing the football.

Be ready to hold your breath, Fin fans, because that will be a wild ride.

If Tua plays like he has been playing, causing needless turnovers at the most inopportune times, the Dolphins will lose on Sunday.

And, given the cold temperatures, compounded by Tua’s ineffectiveness in cold-weather games, we will be staring at a 5-8 record after Sunday.

Do I hope for a miracle turnaround from our supposed “franchise” quarterback?

Of course I do.

Do I expect it?

Hell no.

Can McDaniel change to more of a passing game if the run is being stuffed?

Maybe.

Has McDaniel created plays in practice this week to make Tua’s job easier?

From what I understand about the practice week, and never being a coach, I do know that it is what practice is for.

And given Coach McDaniel’s reputation as a genius coach and play designer, he should be creating passing plays that benefit Tua’s diminished skills.
