Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa knows what he has in his team, and that's a Super Bowl squad.
The Dolphins are, of course, a long way away from proving that potential. It still is early November, after all. With that said, Miami is 5-3 and on a two-game winning streak, the Dolphins just traded for game-changing pass rusher Bradley Chubb, and perhaps most importantly — Tagovailoa is healthy.
The addition of Tyreek Hill this offseason was perhaps the first reason to think this Miami team could make a splash this season, even with a rookie head coach in Mike McDaniel. The addition of Chubb, plus Tagovailoa finally playing up to his No. 5 overall draft position, makes Miami a very dangerous team in a loaded AFC.
Tua, and the Dolphins, aren't shying away from that fact.
"I think throughout OTAs and throughout training camp, we could see the potential that we had as a team offensively and defensively, and we're not afraid to talk about Super Bowls here," Tagovailoa said on Wednesday, via NFL.com. "We're not afraid to talk about going to a playoff game, having an opportunity to go to one and then hopefully winning one."
That's big talk from a quarterback who had been considered a draft bust previous to this season. It's also big talk for a franchise that hasn't won a playoff game since 2000. Still, Miami's less-than-stellar history isn't stopping Tua from talking the talk.
"I would say I have full belief that we are capable [of winning a Super Bowl]," he stated.
Now let's see if Tagovailoa and the Dolphins can keep walking the walk.
