The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started mandatory minicamp on Tuesday and several players didn't participate for injury-related reasons.
Todd Bowles was specifically asked about wide receiver Trey Palmer and quarterback Michael Pratt after practice and he declined to give a concrete answer. Per FOX Sports' Greg Auman, the only information Bowles provided was he's hopeful both players will be ready to practice by the time training camp kicks off in late July.
Bowles declined to elaborate on any injuries for WR Trey Palmer or QB Michael Pratt, just saying he's hopeful they'll be back healthy by the start of training camp in six weeks.

It's not a good development for either player, as both are in heated battles for spots on the Bucs' 53-man roster. Palmer has to find a way to crack the Bucs' final two, maybe three, receiver spots after the first four are locked up via Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, and Emeka Egbuka. Pratt, on the other hand, is fighting for the QB3 job, which typically doesn't yield a roster spot, anyway.
They obviously need as much practice time as they can get and standing on the sideline offers opportunity to others and it can result in falling even down even more in the pecking order, so to speak.
For Palmer specifically, there's also the fact that he's coming off a disappointing year, even with the injuries to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. He never really found any momentum in what was then Liam Coen's offense and it remains to be seen if that changes in 2025. Especially with guys like Egbuka added to the mix and guys like Devin Culp looking to earn an increased role.
For both player's sake, hopefully they'll be 100% and ready to go when training camp rolls around. If not, then the odds of making the final cut will really start stacking against them.
