Two key Falcons return to practice, Darnell Mooney less likely to play

On Thursday, star cornerback A.J. Terrell and defensive lineman Ta’Quon Graham returned to practice for the Atlanta Falcons.

Head coach Raheem Morris said earlier in the week that he feels good about Terrell’s chances of playing Monday night against the Bills after the cornerback suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2. His return to the field is an encouraging sign, but things don’t look as promising for another Falcons standout — Darnell Mooney — who remains day-to-day with a hamstring injury of his own suffered in Week 4 against the Commanders.

“Right now, Mooney is still day-to-day,” Morris said. “We’ll see what that is. He’ll be out today. We’ll get a good feel for what it looks like moving forward.”

The severity of hamstring injuries can vary widely, but it took Terrell four weeks to return to action. The hope is that Mooney won’t be sidelined for too long, though it seems highly unlikely he’ll be available Monday night. In his absence, expect a heavy dose of Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts. The trio of top-10 picks are coming off their first game in which all three found the end zone.
