The Indianapolis Colts desperately needed to improve at TE this offseason, so they selected Penn State TE Tyler Warren with the 14th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. It felt like Warren was the engine of Penn State's offense last season, and many around the NFL have high expectations for what he could do at the pro level. Our staff at A to Z Sports also falls in that camp with the Colts rookie already being named one of the top 20 TEs in the league

Tyler Warren lands in A to Z Sports' top 20 TE rankings

16. Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts

"Tyler Warren hasn't played a single snap in the NFL, yet he finds himself at 16 on this list. That tells you exactly ion why the Colts and multiple other teams were willing to use a first round pick on the Penn State TE. Warren's ability to impact the game at so many different levels makes him arguably one of the most valuable TEs in the NFL; if he can replicate his college success at the pro level, that is. The Colts QB situation is less than ideal, but that honestly makes a reliable target like Warren, who was the top dog in a Big 10 offense a year ago, more enticing. Rookie TEs often struggle, but Warren has the makeup of a player who could make an immediate impact on the Colts' offense. And if he does, I think a year from now we will be talking about him as a lock to be a top 10 TE in the NFL."

Warren joins a Colts TE room that was one of the worst in the NFL a season ago. Sometimes teams ease rookie TEs into their offense, but it doesn't seem like the Colts have that luxury. First of all, Warren is too good not to have on the field, and the team simply has no option on their roster that could prevent him from being a day one starter. With Warren coming in at 16, he was the highest rookie on the list, with Colston Loveland one spot behind him at 17. He also landed higher than some notable names in Kyle Pitts and Hunter Henry, as well as a highly respected veteran and legend, Zach Ertz. To accomplish this before he even logs his first snaps in the NFL. That may seem ridiculous, but it's a testament to how highly our staff views Warren ahead of his rookie season. Who knows, maybe we will have a repeat of last year, where a rookie season took the league by storm (Brock Bowers).
