Tyreek Hill plans to enter Pro Football Hall of Fame as a Dolphin

Unlike the custom of Cooperstown, players inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame aren't immortalized as members of a certain team. Yet, it hasn't stopped wide receiver Tyreek Hill from stating his preference for how he wants his distinguished career to be remembered.

Despite playing just one season in Miami, the 29-year-old told reporters on Wednesday that he plans to enter Canton as a Dolphin and not as a Kansas City Chief.

Hill, who was a fifth-round pick in 2016, spent his first six seasons in Kansas City, where he emerged as one of the NFL's premier returners and deep threats. During his Chiefs tenure, Hill earned six Pro Bowl nods, received first-team All-Pro honors three times, was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team and won Super Bowl LIV.

After extension talks with Kansas City fell apart, the Chiefs traded Hill to Miami last offseason, and both sides have enjoyed success since the deal. Kansas City won Super Bowl LVII, while Hill became the highest-paid receiver ever before helping Miami reach the playoffs and catching 119 passes for 1,710 yards, both career highs.

Regardless of whether Hill's statement was to pander to the Miami faithful, it's yet another shot the wideout has taken at his former team since being traded to the Dolphins.

Last December, “Cheetah” appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast and talked openly about his frustrations in Kansas City’s offense that led to him asking for a trade.

"[There] would be some games where I'd get two targets, I'd get three targets. We'd go into meetings, and my coach would be like, 'We've got to get you involved, we've got to get you involved,'" Hill said. "So I'm calling my agent every week after they say some crazy stuff like that like, 'Bro, I've got to get out of here.'"

Additionally, Hill warned Chiefs fans in April that he plans on being their "worst enemy" when Kansas City plays Miami this season. While Hill made that proclamation assuming he'd be going back to Arrowhead Stadium, the teams will instead meet in Frankfurt, Germany, on Nov. 5.

Considering the stellar career Hill carved out in Kansas City, it'll be difficult for the public to recognize him exclusively as a Dolphin.

However, if he can achieve his lofty goal of becoming the first receiver to record 2,000 yards in a single season, perhaps fans will be more inclined to remember him as such.
