Malik Nabers of the New York Giants is entering his third NFL season rehabbing a major injury. After a rookie season in which Nabers set the New York franchise record for receptions (109) to go along with 1,204 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, high expectations were placed upon the former LSU Tigers wide receiver entering his second season.
Nabers was off to a strong start again in 2025, notably in Week 2 against the rival Dallas Cowboys, where he hauled in nine catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns. The Southside High School graduate suffered a season-ending torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Nabers underwent surgery for the injury on Oct. 28, 2025. On Wednesday, The Athletic’s Dan Duggan reported that the 6-foot wide receiver underwent a second surgery on the same knee. The second surgery reportedly occurred multiple weeks ago, with the procedure described as more of a “clean up” than any structural surgery. This second surgery is not expected to impact the timetable for the Giants’ star wideout to return to action, with New York hoping Nabers will be ready for its season opener.
“Giants WR Malik Nabers underwent a second surgery on his knee to remove scar tissue that was causing stiffness,” Duggan wrote on X. "According to sources. I’m told the second surgery took place ‘multiple weeks ago,’ and it was described as a ‘clean up.’ This second surgery isn’t expected to impact Nabers’ recovery timeline. The team is still hoping the No. 1 WR will be ready for the opener. Nabers first underwent ACL and meniscus surgery on Oct. 28.”
