2024 has been a disaster season for the New York Jets for a multitude of reasons.
Not just because their team is 3-9 and will have a below .500 season for the ninth straight year. Not just because their starting quarterback has taken a dramatic step in regression.
No, the tip of the iceberg has been multiple former Jets players who were ran out of town for a variety of reasons and appear to not only have found new homes but are flourishing in them.
Whether it's Geno Smith, Sam Darnold, or even Mekhi Becton, it's clear that plenty of former Jets have played well over the course of the regular season for their teams.
Even a former Jets punter has suddenly turned things around.
For three seasons, Braden Mann was a below-average punter for the Jets. The former sixth-round pick from 2020 never recorded a season where he averaged over 46 yards a punt. He also struggled in limiting punt returns with the Jets giving up over 3,000 yards of punt return yardage.
With the Philadelphia Eagles, though, Mann has been a completely different punter. Those examples showed out in Philadelphia's latest win - a 24-19 beatdown of the Baltimore Ravens.
Mann punted six times in Philadelphia's win and five of them were inside the 20-yard-line for the Birds. The change in field position was astronomical for the Eagles' defense as it allowed them to hold off a talented offense in the Ravens.
Two of Mann's punts even went as far as to pin Baltimore's offensive inside the five-yard-line.
Mann's effectiveness has been apparent since arriving in Philadelphia. It's also the latest in a long line of former Jet players to excel elsewhere.
