Unnamed NFL player sues United over alleged sexual assault

On Monday, an anonymous NFL player and a second passenger filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court and claimed they were sexually harassed and assaulted by a female passenger on a February United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Newark.

According to the lawsuit obtained by ESPN, the NFL player and another unnamed individual repeatedly complained about a woman who made "unwanted sexual advances" throughout the flight.

The complaint states the two men believe the woman was intoxicated, and that she made inappropriate contact with the player more than once. Flight attendants were reportedly made aware of the situation several times before the woman was relocated away from the player and the second passenger.

TMZ Sports added that United employees did little other than verbally warn the woman after both men complained before she was ultimately moved to a different seat. TMZ also reports the two men were given $150 vouchers after the flight.

An attorney who refused to disclose the identity of the player told TMZ:

"Those who report assaults should not be ignored, but believed, their claims investigated and appropriate action taken where warranted."

On Wednesday, United offered the following statement to TMZ:

"The safety and well-being of our customers is always our top priority.

"In this instance, the customer involved was moved to a different seat. Because litigation is now pending, we're unable to provide further comment."
