The NCAA revealed its punishments for the Michigan Wolverines on Friday in connection with the program's sign-stealing scandal dating back to the 2023 season.
One of the biggest stories was the 10-year show-cause for former head coach Jim Harbaugh, which won't officially start until Aug. 7, 2028, once his other four-year show-cause for past recruiting violations concludes.
Receiving 14 years worth of bans is a bad look, and in a video posted to "The Triple Option," a YouTube channel, former Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer revealed how Harbaugh will be remembered for his time with Michigan.
"He’s a winner,” Meyer said. “Now, there’ll be an asterisk there. I think this is going to be a couple week story and it disappears, I really do."
However, that asterisk Meyer mentioned won't be officially recognized by the NCAA, which revealed Michigan wouldn't be vacating any wins because "there was insufficient evidence in the record that the outcome of games was affected."
There is no denying that in Harbaugh's nine years with the Wolverines, he was a winner just like Meyer said.
From 2015 to 2023, he compiled an impressive 89-25 record, while winning the Big Ten title three times (2021, 2022 and 2023).
However, two areas he struggled in were bowl games, going just 3-6, and against Ohio State, going 3-5, which includes a 0-4 record against Meyer.
He also finished his tenure with Michigan by putting together a perfect 15-0 season and winning the national championship, though it's since been tainted in light of this sign-stealing scandal.
