Everybody is going to have to wait a little longer to see if Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio will let Drew Lock face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday despite dealing with a rib injury he suffered in last week's 37-12 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
"He was a little sore (Friday) morning but that's the be expected since he hadn't really done much since the game on Sunday," Fangio told reporters on Friday, per Jeff Legwold of ESPN. The coach added that he wants to see how Lock throws the ball Saturday morning before making a final decision on the signal-caller's status.
The 24-year-old is listed as questionable on the injury report.
Lock completed only 48.9 percent of his attempts (23-of-47) and tossed four interceptions in the loss to Vegas but was visibly hurting following a hit he endured in the first half of the contest. While backups Brett Rypien and Jeff Driskel don't inspire much confidence, the Broncos are 3-6 and likely headed toward a losing season. Starting Lock if he's one hit away from becoming a spectator for more than Sunday's affair seems, on paper, to be an unwise choice.
This Sunday will be Denver's last game of the campaign with paying fans attending Empower Field at Mile High, as the club will play its final three home contests behind closed doors due to rising COVID-19 cases in the area.
