Seattle Seahawks fans clearly could have picked a better target to talk trash to.
Video went viral on Monday of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield getting into it with some fans during Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field in Seattle, Wash. The video appeared to be shot as the Buccaneers were lined up in the tunnel to take the field before the start of the game.
Mayfield got egged on by some taunting fans in the stands and appeared to fire back by saying, “You’ll be real f–king quiet at halftime.” The two sides then traded further jabs, and Mayfield at one point could be heard saying, “You’re a f------ p----.”

Indeed, it was Tampa Bay who ended up taking a 13-7 lead into halftime and eventually winning by a 38-35 final score. Mayfield, meanwhile, went on to go 29/33 for 379 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Buccaneers to their fourth win in the first five games of the season (with the Seahawks falling to 3-2 with the loss).
Trash talk is obviously a staple of any competitive sport, and Seahawks fans specifically are known to dish it out particularly well. But it probably was not the wisest decision for them to target the two-time Pro Bowler Mayfield on Sunday. Mayfield is looking like an MVP candidate in the early going, and he especially thrives whenever he feels slighted (even if the slight came from years ago).
