Vikings' 2025 NFL Draft Described in One Word

Many opinions about the Minnesota Vikings’ 2025 NFL Draft have been shared due to their lack of picks.

The Vikings made five selections in the draft, three of which came on day three. Minnesota was not able to make a trade in the first round but was able to move around to have an extra sixth-round pick.

Even with just five picks, Minnesota had little to work with. A few fans and experts will likely remember this draft.

Bleacher Report writer Brad Gagnon wrote in his latest article with one word to describe each of the 32 teams’ drafts. Minnesota received an unflattering word from Gagnon: uneventful.

“This team had better hope it already had enough, because just three picks in the top 200 and zero in the top 20 realistically leaves it with a shell of a rookie class in ‘25. That said, Donovan Jackson and Tai Felton should both have a chance to help out J.J. McCarthy in his first year starting.”

The Jackson selection received praise for showing versatility on Ohio State’s offensive line last year by playing guard and tackle, which helped the Buckeyes win the national title. He’s projected to be a day one starter for the Vikings as their left guard.

Felton could be seen as the Vikings’ following number three receiver, potentially replacing or surpassing Jalen Nailor on the depth chart. His 4.37 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine gives Minnesota the speed it needs at receiver to work with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.

The Vikings' decision not to select a cornerback in the draft has been criticized. This was a missed opportunity for Minnesota to improve upon its 28th-ranked pass defense in 2024 as they recover from losing Stephon Gilmore and Cam Bynum to free agency.

After spending about $300 million in free agency, Gagnon has a point in fans hoping that the Vikings did enough to make a legitimate playoff run in 2025.
