Vikings CB Doesn't Hold Back on Jalen Ramsey Trade Idea
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Any young player would welcome the opportunity to bring in an All-Pro talent to learn from by trade -- unless you're the collateral.

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Mekhi Blackmon has become the subject of several fan trade proposals that would send him to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for Jalen Ramsey.

Upon seeing a post about the trade idea on X (formerly Twitter), Blackmon voiced his grievances.

"We about to trade you," Blackmon wrote in response to the trade proposal that posed the following: "Jalen Ramsey for Mekhi Blackmon. An aging CB with a big contract for a young CB on his rookie deal. Would you do it?"

Blackmon wasn't the only Vikings player to strike down the idea.

Starting safety Josh Metellus replied to Blackmon's post, "Bruh tripping lmao" in response to the trade proposal.

The trade on paper seems enticing. Blackmon is an unproven player who was out all last season after a knee injury early in training camp. Ramsey has seven Pro Bowl nominations, three All-Pro mentions, a Super Bowl win, and played all 17 games last season at the age of 30.

But that's the problem there.

The Vikings have Blackmon, who showed promise in his rookie year, under team control through the 2026 season on an affordable rookie deal worth $1.3 million annually.

Meanwhile, Ramsey is on an inflated veteran contract that balloons up to $29.3 million a season by next year. The Dolphins don't want an aging cornerback at that pay rate -- even if it is Ramsey -- hence the trade rumors revolving around the All-Pro cornerback.

That doesn't mean the Vikings aren't in the market to find more help at cornerback.

They re-signed Pro Bowler Byron Murphy Jr. and are high on former Philadelphia Eagles corner Isaiah Rodgers stepping into a meaningful role alongside Blackmon.

But after that trio, there is little playing experience and a need for depth.
