The Minnesota Vikings are moving forward with a revamped front office under new general manager Nolan Teasley, and among the changes is the departure of assistant general manager Ryan Grigson. After four seasons with the organization, Grigson elected to leave the franchise on Wednesday afternoon, opting to pursue an opportunity with another NFL team rather than stay on in a revised role under the new leadership structure.
Grigson joined Minnesota in 2022 shortly after Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was hired as general manager. He initially served as senior vice president of player personnel and held that position for three seasons before being promoted to assistant general manager in 2025. During his time with the Vikings, he worked closely with Adofo-Mensah and brought extensive front-office experience to the organization.
Following Minnesota’s decision to part ways with Adofo-Mensah on Jan. 31, 2026, the team underwent a lot of changes in football operations. Teasley was hired as the new general manager and reorganized the front office by bringing in Andrew Healy from the Cleveland Browns and Trent Kirchner from the Seattle Seahawks as assistant general managers. Although the Vikings offered Grigson an opportunity to remain with the team in a different capacity, he declined and chose to seek a position elsewhere in the league.
Grigson arrived in Minnesota after previous stints with the Browns and Seahawks. He had also worked alongside Adofo-Mensah in Cleveland during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Before that, he was best known for serving as general manager of the Indianapolis Colts from 2012 through 2016.
During his five-year tenure running Indianapolis, the Colts compiled a 49-31 record, good for a .612 winning percentage. The franchise reached the postseason three times during that span. Before becoming Indianapolis’ general manager, Grigson advanced through scouting and personnel roles with the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles, eventually becoming Philadelphia’s director of player personnel in 2010.
The Vikings’ front-office transition has now resulted in the departure of both assistant general managers from the Adofo-Mensah era, with Demitrius Washington also no longer with the organization. In addition to hiring Healy and Kirchner, Minnesota recently added former Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace as an adviser, continuing a broad restructuring of its football operations department under Teasley’s leadership.
