The Minnesota Vikings continued their impressive start to the 2026 NFL season Sunday, defeating the Indianapolis Colts 16-10 at U.S. Bank Stadium to improve to 6-0. Minnesota struggled offensively for much of the afternoon, but a strong defensive performance and a clutch fourth quarter helped the Vikings secure another victory.
The Colts entered the matchup hoping to end their recent struggles, but they were unable to finish drives when it mattered most. Indianapolis fell to 2-5 after surrendering the lead in the fourth quarter and failing to respond late.
Indianapolis started quickly, taking a 7-0 lead on its opening possession. Running back Jonathan Taylor broke through the Minnesota defense for a 38-yard touchdown run, giving the Colts early momentum.
Minnesota struggled to find the end zone during the first half, relying on kicker Will Reichard to keep the game close. Reichard connected on field goals from 28 and 47 yards, bringing the Vikings within 7-6.
The Colts answered with a 43 yard field goal by Spencer Shrader just before halftime, giving Indianapolis a 10-6 advantage at the break.
Despite the deficit, Minnesota’s defense kept the game within reach by pressuring quarterback Daniel Jones and limiting the Colts’ passing attack.
Minnesota finally found its breakthrough early in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Kyler Murray used his legs to break free for a 35 yard run, putting the Vikings in excellent scoring position.
Murray then connected with tight end T.J. Hockenson for a five yard touchdown, giving Minnesota its first lead at 13-10.
Reichard added a 52 yard field goal with 1:39 remaining to extend the advantage to six points.
Indianapolis had one final opportunity to mount a comeback, but safety Harrison Smith ended those hopes with an interception of Jones with just over a minute remaining.
Murray finished with 150 passing yards and a touchdown, while Jordan Mason led Minnesota with 68 rushing yards. Justin Jefferson caught four passes for 44 yards.
The Vikings’ defense once again proved to be the difference, holding Indianapolis scoreless in the second half. Linebacker Blake Cashman recorded 12 tackles and two sacks, consistently disrupting the Colts’ offense.
Minnesota will look to continue its undefeated run next week against the Detroit Lions. With six consecutive victories, the Vikings are establishing themselves as a serious contender in the NFC.
