Vikings' WR Receives Suspension News Ahead of 2026 Season

The Minnesota Vikings are down to their final week of roster decisions before the 2026 season gets underway. Minnesota opens the year at home against the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 13, but before any of that, the team has to get through one more preseason tune-up, a Friday matchup with the Denver Broncos, and then cut the roster down to 53 players by 6 p.m. ET Sunday.

That deadline puts pressure on a handful of position battles still playing out across the roster. The most closely watched competition, at quarterback, has already been settled, with veteran Kyler Murray locking down the starting job as most expected heading into camp.

Elsewhere on the roster, though, things remain less settled, particularly at wide receiver, where Minnesota has more bodies than it can realistically keep. That competition got a little clearer, and a little more complicated, on Monday.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that receiver Jeshaun Jones has been suspended three games for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, with reinstatement eligibility landing on Sept. 28.

It means the Vikings could open the regular season without him. Jones had already been working from behind in the receiver room, trailing Jauan Jennings in the pecking order.

Minnesota’s likely group heading into the season includes Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and Jennings handling the bulk of three-receiver looks, with Tai Felton and Myles Price rounding things out after strong camp showings, though their playing time may hinge on injuries elsewhere.

Jones, who signed with Minnesota as an undrafted rookie in 2024, has spent the past two seasons trying to carve out a role.

His only regular-season snaps came in Week 18 last year, when the Vikings elevated him from the practice squad for a pair of punt returns totaling five yards. He remains eligible to practice this week and can still play in Friday’s preseason finale before his suspension takes effect.
