Von Miller isn’t ready to hang up his cleats just yet.
The veteran pass-rusher has agreed to terms with the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year, $5.5 million contract, according to Ian Rapoport. The deal can reportedly reach a maximum value of $7.5 million through incentives.
Miller is staying in the NFC East after playing with the Washington Commanders in 2025, where he had nine sacks on the season. But Miller will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the greatest edge rushers in NFL history when his career is over. The former Denver Broncos star has already built an impressive résumé that includes multiple Super Bowl championships, a Super Bowl MVP award, and numerous individual honors.
Potentially earning close to $8 million is a solid payday for Miller, who will now get an opportunity to chase another championship while playing for America’s Team.
For the Cowboys, this move is about adding proven talent and championship experience to their defense. Miller may no longer be the unstoppable force he was during his prime, but he can still make an impact as a situational pass-rusher. His leadership could also benefit the younger players on Dallas’ defensive front like Quinnen Williams, DeMarvion Overshown, Otito Ogbonnia, Donovan Ezeiruaku, and Malachi Lawrence.
Dallas enters the season hoping to return to the playoffs and make a deep postseason run. Adding a future Hall of Famer won’t solve any problem heading into 2026, but Miller’s ability to pressure quarterbacks could prove valuable in important moments.
Miller still believes he has something left to offer. He’ll now get the chance to prove it while wearing one of the NFL’s most recognizable uniforms.
