The Washington Commanders and Linebacker Bobby Wagner agreed to a one-year $9.5 million contract on Thursday night. The deal includes $8 million in guaranteed dollars. Wagner had a solid first season as a member of the Washington Commanders.

He finished 18th in the league in total tackles, had 2 tackles, and forced a fumble. It was his 13th straight season with over 100 tackles. Wagner came over to the Commanders last offseason after spending 11 of his first 12 NFL seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. Will Wagner be able to play well for the Commanders in 2025?

Washington Commanders Offseason Outlook

It has been a busy week for the Washington Commanders. They have not rested on their laurels after shockingly advancing to the NFC Championship Game. Unfortunately, that was where their postseason run ended. They were dominated 55-23 by the Philadelphia Eagles

Washington acquired Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers last week. He will join a group of pass catchers that includes Terry McLaurin and Tight End Zach Ertz. That gives the Commanders one of the league’s most formidable receiving trios. Bringing Wagner back will also help stabilize a defense that struggled during the regular season and the postseason. The Commanders still must shore up their defense this offseason to reach their full potential.

Final Thoughts

The Commanders will be great once again next season. Wagner will provide a veteran presence that will be invaluable to the team. Washington must not get complacent following a great run in the NFL Playoffs. Wagner’s championship pedigree will make sure that is not the case.
