The Los Angeles Rams were one game away from appearing in Super Bowl LX. They lost to the Seattle Seahawks in a tight battle in the NFC Championship Game, and their NFC West foes went on to win the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. It was the second season in a row that the Rams were the only team to give the eventual champions a run for their money in the NFC playoffs.
But that doesn’t mean the Rams were entirely absent from Super Bowl Sunday. Rams tight end Colby Parkinson was featured in an advertisement along with several other elite tight ends a part of an important PSA from Novartis:
The ad opens up on a shot of Parkinson lounging in a pool and sipping on a drink before going to Greg Olsen — Carolina Panthers legendary tight end — followed by all-time great Tony Gonzalez and Tennessee Titans great Delanie Walker. George Kittle and Vernon Davis of the San Francisco 49ers also appear before the ad settles on Rob Gronkowski and Bruce Arians, who discuss the purpose of the ad.
The whole thing is a PSA for men to get checked for prostate cancer — something Arians was diagnosed with — under the premise of “relaxing your tight end.” The shots of each tight end are of them doing a relaxing activity.
It’s a clever are playful ad with an important message, and Parkinson was one of two active tight ends (Kittle) to be involved in it.
There is good reason for the Rams to feel like they could have easily won the Super Bowl behind MVP Matthew Stafford this season. Stafford was the only quarterback able to figure out the Seahawks defense this season, but the defense had one of their worst games in the NFC Championship.
Rams young star Jared Verse took responsibility for those struggled in the final game of the year.
“It was just me being completely, blatantly honest. I think it was a young mindset. I think it was my fault on the defense. I think it was a couple of our secondary. I feel like our linebackers were 100% locked in. I think it was our fault as a defense because we’re a younger defense. We have a lot of young dudes. We felt like we earned everything. We felt like ‘Oh yea we got this sealed.’
