Watch: Dan Campbell pulls out $5 bill in fiery speech as Lions sit atop NFC

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell just may be the most popular HC among his players, and the post-game speeches like the one he delivered after Sunday’s 20-6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are part of the reason why.

Campbell, who’s known for his impassioned personality, pulled a $5 bill from his pocket to help him reinforce his message. The full video is below.

The five wins are the Lions most through their first six games and it’s also the second-fastest they’ve reached the five-win mark since 2011, when they won their first five games before falling to 5-1 in Week 6.

Detroit’s 5-1 record marks the franchise’s best start since it went 6-0 to begin the 1956 season.

Forty games into his tenure as head coach, Campbell has the Lions trending in the right direction. The team ranks fourth in total offense and scoring offense, seventh in total defense and ninth in scoring defense.

The Lions have won their last four games, all of which have been decided by two or more touchdowns. They began the year with an upset of the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and their only loss came in Week 2 in a 37-31 overtime defeat to the Seattle Seahawks.

Detroit saw a significant improvement from Campbell’s first year when it went 3-13-1 to his second, in which Detroit went 9-8, notching its first winning season since 2017 and narrowly missing out on its first playoff appearance since 2016.

Now, the Lions are 5-1 and tied with the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles for the best record in the NFC.
