Giants fans would rather it had happened in Week 1, but the team’s No. 1 receiver and sixth pick in this year’s draft finally put one on the board with the first touchdown of his NFL career.
Malik Nabers caught five of seven targets for a team-high 66 yards in a 28-6 home loss to Minnesota last week. He gave Giants fans a scare by appearing on the team’s injury report with knee soreness after a full practice on Friday but showed no ill-effects on this leaping grab against Washington.

Nabers averaged 17.6 yards per catch while earning first-team All-SEC honors with LSU last season, ranking second in the FBS with 1,569 receiving yards. He tied for third with 14 touchdowns in 2023 and helped quarterback Jayden Daniels, the draft’s No. 2 pick by the Washington Commanders, win last year’s Heisman trophy.
If New York hopes to make the playoffs this year, it will need more plays like this from Nabers. Darius Slayton, the team’s leading receiver in 2023, ranked 46th among NFL pass-catchers with 770 yards on 50 catches, numbers Nabers should easily top in 2024.
